- 8 July
Rethinking Economics Fundamentals is a four-week series that we recommend all new members to Rethinking Economics International join. It’s a great way to be welcomed into the global community and be introduced to some of the big questions that preoccupy Rethinkers: ‘What is economics?’, ‘How did economics become language of power and its practitioners, the gatekeepers?’, ‘How do you do economics?’, ‘Can economics help serve people and save the planet?’
Whether you are new to economics or you’ve been part of Rethinking Economics for a long time, this is the perfect space to critically engage with some of the big questions that explain why we exist and go over the fundamentals! Each session involves a presentation and discussion based on a short reading shared in advance.
-
When does it take place? Rethinking Economics Fundamentals takes place online in weekly 75m calls for four consecutive weeks. At present, the series is run three times a year in February, June and November
-
Who can apply? The training is open to all REI members. We really encourage all members to take part in this series when they first join!
-
Are there requirements? The sessions are a combination of pedagogical and discursive spaces so being in a place where you can talk is preferred (but if that’s not possible, please let the facilitators know and you can listen along).
