Rethinking Economics Bologna

We started our activity in 2016. Our main task was to create debate and curiosity about the lack of pluralistic content in the economics teaching at our university, and to fill this void with meetings and lectures aiming to help students discover the economic thinkers ignored during lessons. Our efforts opened the space to insert a course on the History of Economic Thought into the master’s degrees in Economia e Politica Economica and in Economics, which was not present before we began our activities. We believe our university should foster a more critical environment where mainstream economics can sit alongside ecological, behavioural, post-Keynesian and other perspectives. We want to make sure we leave university with a more varied, broader vision of how to tackle the complex challenges our society is facing. Through seminars and other campaigning events we are working to push the university in this direction. We have also been elected within the department of economics, so that we have an institutional channel to make this happen.
