Rethinking Economics for Africa University of Fort Hare

Our mission at REFA UFH is to play a positive role in reshaping the teaching and practice of economics within our university and across the Eastern Cape province. We seek to bring economic pluralism to the most remote areas of our province and country while maintaining high levels of pluralist grounding in the cities and urban areas. We further want to contribute to the reform of the economics curriculum and to make economics exciting and accessible to all people, irrespective of background and other factors. We host a REFA UFH Week to popularise our chapter and drive academic progression within our network, including a one-day academic seminar and a two-day student-centred academic conference, and we empower students to develop and publish academic articles on themes relating to pluralism through our platforms.
