Rethinking Economics Kenya

Our mission is to promote a pluralist, decolonial and climate-conscious approach to economics that centres the voices and realities of marginalised communities, challenges dominant neoliberal narratives, and empowers learners to co-create a just economic future. We host small reading circles and discussions among students from different institutions around African political economy, informal markets and climate justice. We have also connected with grassroots groups to understand the real-world implications of economic policy in urban and rural Kenya. We organise public teach-ins on decolonising economics in the Global South, partner with local universities on interdisciplinary panels covering themes such as climate, debt and development, and run youth surveys on economic education experiences in Kenya to help shape our advocacy and engagement strategies.
