Agitate

Our work focused on using our Curriculum Health Check method to mobilise students in the UK and beyond, as well as pushing for ecological economics.

STUDENT CAMPAIGNING WINS IN UK/EUROPE

Our Academic Community of Practice for Doughnut Economics continues to bring about changes together with students, mostly in Europe and the UK, but beyond. We rallied UK students together at a session parallel to The World Transformed, helping seed activity with six new groups (at University of West of England, University of Sussex, University of Aberdeen, University of Bristol, University of Reading and University of Oxford (which had existed previously but had been dormant) and strategising with a further five existing groups for their further campaigning on ecological economics.

CURRICULUM HEALTH CHECK METHODOLOGY

During the period we worked with Denmark and Norway to replicate our methodology. We continue to see this in-depth, action-research as a foundation for strong campaigns to follow, as it was here in the UK, and we’re helping other countries make strides in this direction.

RESEARCH: “MANUFACTURING ‘ECONOMICS MINDS’”

In early 2026, we published and promoted compelling research by Ha-Joon Chang and Mohsen Javdani that reveals that the economics discipline promotes ideological conformity among students and scholars. The report details the role of “mainstream authority” in reinforcing disciplinary conformity, and the implications for pluralism, pedagogy, and curriculum reform efforts. It makes recommendations for educators, students, and campaigners. Over 200 people attended the online launch of the report and we registered over 500 downloads.
